Banazan is FIVE years old today!
This year will be a bit of a shift for this ambitious DIY label we call Banazan. We're focusing on developing our existing roster and only doing a few larger releases this year. There will be more effort spent on distributing our artists' other releases and promoting the back catalog. You might also see more Banazan releases popping up for download on various MP3 stores and websites.
Banazan continues to resonate with an international audience, so we will continue to focus on our UK and European artists as well as North American.
We've decided to stay true and keep things small and DIY for now. Thanks everyone for your support and for purchasing records (especially the vinyl)!
On the boring administrative level:
We have a backlog of orders we're shuffling through, so if you've ordered something in the last two weeks and wondering where it is...it will find you soon!
New stuff:
We just got in some new Tissø Lake CD-R's released on Red Woodsman Records in the UK. The album is called "A Coronet" and there are two different cover styles in lovely handmade packaging. We'll have these up for sale soon, but if you'd like one sooner, use the contact form and we'll give you more ordering details.
Some new (old) stuff from Eeriephone Records in the UK will be coming in soon, as well. This is Dan (from the Duds) label. If you have not heard "The Myriad Contortions of Yolande Mehwengwe" yet, then I'm afraid your life isn't complete.
A few of the long, lost copies of Oh Dark Thirty's "Metrar" have landed into our possession as well. These will be surfacing sometime soon as well.
We're working on a new addition to the "Banazan Presents" series from The Urchins (France) that fans of pure indiepop are sure to love. It will stick to the four song EP format and will be a nice introduction to this great band.
Things are lovely here in southern California and we're looking forward to settling into another great year.
Thanks everyone!
